While coaching and mental health counseling or therapy share some similarities, it's important to recognize the distinctions between the two. Mental health providers undergo specific training and licensure to address psychological processes and help individuals navigate underlying mental health challenges. Their focus is on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions.
On the other hand, coaching services, like those offered by Breaking Forward Coaching, aim to enhance professional and personal skills on a practical level. Coaches work with clients to set goals, develop strategies, and achieve desired outcomes. They do not provide therapy or attempt to resolve underlying mental health issues. The advantage of working with executive coaches who are also trained mental health professionals is the ability to integrate psychological principles and techniques into the coaching process. This enables them to better understand the complexities of their clients' experiences and provide a more holistic approach that addresses both professional and personal aspects.
Clients have the option to participate in coaching engagements both via telephone and remote video conferencing.
Our coaches have significant experience working with executives/professionals in the following industries; Legal, Finance, Sports/Entertainment, Medical, Mental Health/Addiction, Higher Education, Pharma, Technology, and Realty.
Breaking Forward Coaching provides coaching to both individuals who are seeking to strengthen their professional position as well as to small teams within an organization.
In addition to offering no-fee initial consultations to potential clients our executive team offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary assessment protocol which seeks to identify what coaching track is most suitable for a client's immediate needs. Additionally, clients can receive coaching within various tracks as desired.
Our coaches offer various appointment options, and several facilitate coaching engagements outside of our normal office hours. Please contact us about any specific needs or requests.
Breaking Forward Coaching offers a multidisciplinary and comprehensive assessment program prior to coaching individually. This service component is recommended as it allows for a more in-depth strategic coaching plan protocol. Clients who opt to engage in this service participate in individual interviews with three to four of our coaches and partake in standardized testing which facilitates a greater insight into recommended plan components. Clients benefit from the entire assessment team meeting and reviewing assessment results and from participating in a team meeting with several members of the Breaking Forward Coaching team where they will receive assessment considerations, detailed coaching recommendations, and specific coach-client suggestions.
We offer complimentary initial (15-20 minutes) consultations to all potential clients. After initial consultation, all coaching services are offered via pre-paid packaging. We accept payment via bank transfer, credit card (American Express, Master Card, Visa) and via Venmo.
Yes, as a client you will be afforded full confidentiality and your information and status as a client will not be shared without your specific and written consent to do so.
Clients are provided both options as it relates to scheduling appointments. We have an online booking system which allows clients to schedule, and our executive support staff can work with you directly to schedule if that is your preference.
Coaching sessions are designed to be shorter term, and are available for purchase by way of pre-paid packages. Individual coaching sessions typically occur over a 3-4 month period while small team coaching engagements are experienced over a six month period of time. Clients have the option to extend and continue coaching services, either with their original coach or with another Breaking Forward Coach if desired. We do not require contracting beyond the packages that are purchased.
Dr. Dawn Sheehan, Psy. D. plays a crucial role in our team as an expert in test/assessment selection, administration, and interpretation. She ensures that each client receives the most suitable testing and assessment options based on their individual needs. As part of our coaching packages, all clients have the opportunity to gain additional insights through testing and at least one assessment measure. For clients who participate in the assessment portion, they typically receive 2-3 assessment measures as part of the comprehensive assessment process and protocol. This approach allows us to provide a well-rounded understanding of each client's unique situation.
Breaking Forward Coaching utilizes our in-house coaches to provide direct and supportive coaching to our clients. However, in cases where we may not be the best match for a specific client, we have the capability to make outside recommendations. If desired, we can also assist in coordinating an introduction to another suitable coaching resource. Our goal is to ensure that each client receives the most beneficial coaching experience, whether it is through our services or with an alternative provider. We do not accept “cuts” or financial renumeration from any outside resources we may refer to.
Executive coaching aims to enhance leadership effectiveness. Leadership coaching is indeed distinct from mentoring or consulting in its approach and objectives. While mentoring and consulting typically involve providing advice, guidance, or specific solutions to problems, leadership coaching takes a different approach.
